Cumbria’s Archers enjoyed a good weekend at the Five Counties Competition at Newcastle in October 2007
Juniors Freya Wise and Ella Swindley (Kendal) won the Girls Longbow, both taking Rose awards and Freya also collected the Trophy for the Best Longbow Girl. Joshua Havlin and Joshua Shepherd(Cockermouth) finished second in the Boys Longbow, with Shepherd also winning a Rose Award.
Rose Awards also went to Aron Henderson (Eagle) and Vicky Coward (Kendal) and Vicky also achieved Junior Bowman score.
Other Juniors representing Cumbria were Grant Bond, Kayleigh Chaplow, Alex Marsden and Danny Hoggarth from Kendal along with Cameron Angus from |Cockermouth and Martin Rhodes from Eagle Penrith
Cumbria’s seniors Rob Faulkner (Kendal), Simon Degler(Sellafied) and David Gregson(Appleby) won the Gents Recurve Trophy. Rose Awards went to Richard Rhodes(Eagle Penrith) and Paula Atkin (Cockermouth), with Alan Beatty (Beacon Penrith) collecting the Best Gents Longbow title for the third year in succession.
Othe seniors competing were Vicky Lane and Geoff Rawlinson (Kendal) and Christine Beatty (Beacon Penrith)
All the Squad Members both senior and junior had an excellent weekend recording some of their best scores ever and this can only be a footnote of things to come. Well done to everyone and thanks to those who provided transport. 2008 the tournament will be held in Cumbria.
